The Daily Five: Launching Read to Self

Often the first steps are the hardest when starting something new.
The first two to three weeks of The Daily Five are considered the launch period.  It is really important to take the appropriate amount of time to teach your dear students the desired behaviors while doing The Daily Five.  The rest of the year will run much more smoothly if you do not short change the launch.

Most of this information is basically the launch recommended in the book.  The other four elements of The Daily Five (Writing, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, and Word Work) launch in basically the same fashion.  Just make sure you pace yourself, you do not want to launch all on the same day.
Click here for a closer look at the first mini lessons to use during the launch of Read to Self.
Best.

  1. Hi Mrs. Monroe,
Love your blog and I am loving your Read To Self: I Charts. Will you be making matching Charts to go along with the other Daily 5 areas. That would be really great.
    Thanks

  3. All of your Daily 5 posts are SO helpful. I tried it out this year for the first time and it worked okay, but I want to really plan and prepare for a better launch and implementation next year. I am pinning these posts to go back to once school is out.

    Thanks for your great help!
