Five for Freebie Friday: June 14, 2013

Happy Friday.  I'm glad you're here.  It's time for Doodle Bugs Teaching's Five for Friday and Teaching Blog Addict's Freebie Friday.  I have never posted a two for one, two linkies in one post, but I'm feeling adventurous, so here goes.

Number 1
While I have loads of freebies available here at School Is a Happy Place, I have never participated in Teaching Blog Addict's Freebie Friday.  There are always so many great resources available through this linky, I wanted to get in on the fun.
My freebie is a Number of the Day activity.  This is one in a series of Number of the Day printables I have created.  My others are also posted.  You can check them out by clicking here.
I really like using Number of the Day activities for morning work two or three days a week.  I tweak the skills as my students progress through the year.  The Number of the Day shown here is something I will use at the beginning of the year with my firsties.  It might be something kindergartners could work on later in the year.
If you would like a free copy, click on either of the pics below.

For more great freebies, be sure to head over to Teaching Blog Addict.

Number 2
Molly at Lucky to Be in First is celebrating reaching 250 followers with a really great give away.  My OI and OY Roundup is part of the prize package.  I have never had anything as part of a prize give away.  I'm pretty excited.  She has a prize package for the lower grades and one for uppers.  So thoughtful.  If you haven't already stopped by her blog and entered, there is still time.
Congratulations Molly!

Number 3
One of my friends has a really cute little clutch.  I kept forgetting to ask her about it until the other day.  She told me where she got it and that it is a Cinda B wristlet.  I went by the shop that has them and snagged one.  Then I went home and checked them out online.  They come in several different colors and are affordable.  I picked up a blue one and a pink one as well.  I don't know which is my favorite.  But, who says I have to choose?

Number 4
There is a little problem at my house.  We have two cats and one dog.  B.B. is our senior cat and she loves to splash all of the water out of the water dishes.  I really have no idea why she does this.  (She is doing it right now while I'm trying to type.)  Anyway, besides the mess she makes, she leaves no water for any of the other animals in the house.  I've tried to find a dish to prevent her from splashing, but I've had no luck.  Does anyone know why she might be doing this or how to stop it?  If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear.
On a side note.  The pic is courtesy of my sweet  A.   I never know what I'll find on my phone.  This picture cracks me up.

Number 5
Happy Birthday and Happy Father's Day to my sweet husband.  Our little family will celebrate both of these special days this weekend.  Picking out multiple cards was quite a challenge.   A's  criteria for a good card is a little different than mine.  She picks based on the song that it plays.  I think we ended up with Pink's Get This Party Started.  Awesome,  r i g h t ?   We have a few things planned.  We really want to show our favorite guy how much we love him.

Thanks so much for reading.

  1. Love the clutch and the freebie! THANK YOU! What a fun idea. Your cat is hilarious. He does not want a dish that he can't splash- I can tell by the picture. :) OH and I got 1+1=5 in the mail yesterday- I was serious about wanting that book! HA HA!

  8. Love your number of the day freebie! Thanks! About the splasher--we have three feline friends who all love water. They sprint to the bathroom sink any time we head that direction--faucet drinkers. One, Harry, is a splasher like yours! I wish I could give you a solution, but the best I have found is a waterfall bowl and a raised holder. I think Harry likes the movement of the water, after he splashes, he immediately takes a drink and repeats this process. The only thing is--the waterfall dish gets scooted from one side of the basement to the other--so he still tries--just not so much of a mess. The raised dish holder is for our dog--it is harder for him to get up there and splash, so much less mess. We had to zip-tie the holder to our radiator vent, though. He would scoot the whole operation with his attempts. I do not think either of these "solutions" will eliminate all water spills, and they may create other issues... :0) Sorry for such a long comment--I feel you...

    Thanks for sharing your week--
